From impressionism to abstract painting

Around 1900 Paris was the centre of art in Europe. The term „École de Paris“ describes not one style ore one artist group, but all artists, who worked at that time in Paris. Important artistic developments of modern art, from impressionism to abstract painting, started here at the turn of the century. The collection of the Petit Palais in Genf tries to show the whole spectrum of that time and is now represented with 96 loan collections in the Kunstsammlungen Jena.
