Image series 46 / 2024: Philip-Lorca diCorcia
Representation of Reality
One of the main topics of the American photographer Philip-Lorca diCorcia is the question of the possibility of representing reality. The realistic reproduction and the seemingly documentary view are the result of elaborate image direction. His images move between everyday moments and detailed staged arrangements. In the portrait series ‘Heads’, he photographed passers-by on the streets of New York City without them noticing, using a powerful telephoto lens from a great distance.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Art Collection Deutsche Börse, more than 120 photographs by various photographers will be presented in the anniversary exhibition: new acquisitions in dialogue with existing groups of works.
