25 October 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of internationally renowned conductor and composer Johann Strauss II. His waltzes and operettas in three-four time shaped the light music of the 19th century and continue to delight many people to this day. His oeuvre comprises over 500 works, including waltzes such as ‘The Blue Danube’, polkas, marches, quadrilles, gallops and operettas.
With 65 productions from 10 genres on around 250 performance days, Vienna is celebrating 200 years of Johann Strauss II this year.
