If you visit the Internet presence of the Schirn Kunsthalle these days, a black space will open, in which the animated lobster-telephone by Salvador Dalì makes trouble. Clicking the button “Zurück zur Realität” the user will get back to the front internet page. – It’s a joke leading to the topic: surreal objects.
The lobster-telephone is used as an icon, presenting the basic principles of surrealistic art like estrangement, combinatorics, metamorphosis and – last but not least – humor.
