Suggestions for Thought-provoking
With her diverse, humorous works, Rosemarie Trockel is one of the most important contemporary artists. In her artworks, she takes up topics that should not be ignored, such as traditional gender roles or the Holocaust. There is hardly a topic that she does not take up. For her, her art is above all a means to make people think. Even if her core themes are bitterly serious, she almost always remains humorous.
On the occasion of Rosemarie Trockel’s 70th birthday, the retrospective examines her influence on contemporary art. In addition to her computer-generated knitting pictures, which made her famous in the 1980s, ceramic sculptures, book covers, paintings, photographs and video films can be seen – more than 200 works from all artistic creative phases of the artist.
