She was one of the leading artists of European Pop Art, the Austrian Kiki Kogelnik, and she experimented with collage and airbrush techniques, with new materials such as vinyl as well as with the traditional material of ceramics. Some of her works are mask-like heads, in the 1970s made of papier-mâché and ceramics, in the 1990s made of glass and bronze, which, like her entire oeuvre, show the joy of play and at the same time the effortless caricature of prevailing conditions.
With around 150 formats, some of them very large, from four decades of artistic production, the retrospective presents an overall picture of Kiki Kogelnik’s diverse oeuvre.
