Image series 42 / 2025: Edvard Munch
Landscapes of the Soul
Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, considered an important pioneer of modernism, is known for his haunting depictions of fundamental human emotions. Fear and loneliness, illness, love and death are themes that run through his extensive oeuvre. Like no other, he created soul landscapes in which the landscape stands as a symbol of alienation, loss and longing, and his figures project their feelings onto the landscape.
Almost 100 works by Edvard Munch are shown in the exhibition alongside contemporary artistic positions, repeatedly placing them in relation to one another.
