The Dutch artist Johan Thorn Prikker is best known for his Art Nouveau works. In the 1910s and 1920s, he was one of the most influential artists in the Rhineland. His Gesamtkunstwerk combines painting with applied art and architecture. He was versatile, keen to experiment and unconventional in all genres: paintings, drawings, watercolours, mosaics, murals, stained-glass windows, furniture, design objects, textile art, book covers and carpets.
The exhibitions showcase Johan Thorn Prikker’s multifaceted body of work, highlighting his extraordinary productivity, his enthusiasm for experimentation and the impact of his works in the context of architecture.
