In paintings and oil studies, artists from around 1900 depict Danish, German, Dutch and Norwegian coasts, life on the beaches and in the dunes with quick brushstrokes and bright colours. The diverse artistic perspectives of the North Sea were captured on canvas directly in the open air.
Around 80 paintings and oil studies, contemporary photographs and modern sculptures in the exhibition present fascinating views of life by the sea and on the coast. Historical and contemporary positions enter into a dialogue.
