Registration and Licenses
prometheus is a non-commercial image archive. prometheus does not make any profit and is supported by the non-profit Association prometheus e.V.. License fees are not charged on the images, but are used exclusively to cover operating and personnel costs as well as the continuous development and maintenance of the applications.

There are different ways to use prometheus. We offer the following licenses:
If you cannot use prometheus through an institution with a license, you have the possibility to purchase an individual license.
30,- €/year if you pay via PayPal; 45,- €/year if you pay via invoice.
Members of the Deutscher Verband für Kunstgeschichte e.V. receive a 50% discount on the license fee. Please contact the office of the association first: firstname.lastname@example.org. Afterwards you will receive an e-mail from us with information about the payment process via PayPal or invoice.
Licenses for institutions
We offer different licenses for universities, museums, schools, etc.. This allows all members of a licensed institution to use prometheus on the computers within the unlocked network. Furthermore, there is also the possibility to search the image archive via personal access, anytime and anywhere.

All institutions that have purchased their own license or are part of a campus license can also request administration access from the prometheus office free of charge.
With this access you are authorized to set up or activate “personal accesses” for the teachers and students of your institute on your own responsibility. The administration access should – if possible – be managed by a staff member of the institute (e.g. library).
