Facades of cathedrals and churches are popular photo opportunities. As key locations and major attractions in the cities they are usually seen as living places with the usual background noise in their sublime whole and so recorded in the photo.
Photographer Markus Brunetti also captured the facades of the houses of God in his photographs during his travels in Europe, but he photographed using a technique developed especially for this project. He takes his time, photographs over weeks and years, usually early in the morning, makes hundreds of images of details from different perspectives. Then the photos are digitally processed. The first results of the “digital artist” can be seen in the exhibition in Cologne: 30 large photo prints of uncrowded ideal views of the cathedrals, churches, and cloisters from only one perspective.
