In Murnau and the surrounding area the artist Gabriele Münter, who was born in Berlin, found motifs for most of her images at the beginning of the 20th century. In her painting, she captured the typical nature of the landscape and represented it in her characteristic, reduced forms of expression. She showed repeatedly different seasons and of course also the Bavarian winter.
Münter’s painterly work from all phases of life and creation is presented in the exhibition together with a broader selection of her American photographs. Around 200 exhibits provide among other things insight into her joy on experimenting.
