The workshop of artists has long been considered as a magical place, as an inspiring space, in which great works arise. A central image theme as an expression and questioning of this artistic creation myth is the studio since the early 19th century up to the present day.
In the exhibition in Dortmund it is not about these spaces where art is created, but about an art project of various workspaces, about the places where people work, and about places that tell stories. For the involved artists, these territories are spaces between the public and the private, between the familiar and the foreign.
