As a photographic stylistic device, the “blurring effect” – partly blurry, partly clear – is a trademark of the photographer Richard Avedon, born in New York City in 1923. The pioneer of fashion photography expected his models to have acting skills. The spontaneous and contingent in his photos was consciously staged by him. In the 1960s, these constructed images allow insights into the private lives of celebs in art, music, fashion, film and contribute creating the images of these celebrities.
Predominantly black and white photographs of Richard Avedon and other cult photographers of the time show in the exhibition the lifestyle of the 1960s and 70s, in which party and politics, fashion and music, art and body cult merge.
