Impressions of Metropolises

Fascinated by big cities, their structures and power relations are recurring themes for British artist Sarah Morris. In doing so, she reduces her impressions and experiences, each of which she has recorded during visits and conversations on location. The result is abstract, graphic structural paintings in bright colours and in large format with clear lines that create patterns and spatial depth through overlaps. The titles refer to well-known buildings or squares in the metropolises.
The retrospective shows almost 200 works by Sarah Morris, from paintings and drawings to her cinematic works of the last 30 years.
