Visual Elements with a Wide Spectrum

Shadows are fleeting, invisible, mysterious, eerie, illuminating. They depend on bodies, belong to them, hide and draw attention, reveal connections with the psyche, and in them the absent and the present touch each other. For over two and a half thousand years, artists have been trying to fathom the mystery of shadows.
With around 40 works by various artists, the exhibition traces the emancipation of shadows as an imaging theme in contemporary art. It explores the spectrum of shadow worlds, ranging from the existential to the threatening to the political.
