Focusing the Modern
In the occasion of the100th anniversary of the Fagus Factory, an exhibition in the Bauhaus-Archiv is presenting photographic series by Albert Renger-Patzsch from 1928 and 1952.
The Fagus Factory, designed by Walter Gropius and Adolf Meyer, is an important testimony of the beginning modern. The photographs by Renger-Patzsch, who numbers among the most important exponents of New Objectivity, include views of architecture of the shoe factory, as well as their products, the manufacturing process and portraits of the company’s owners.
The show is complemented by nature- and landscape photographs from the private collection of Karl Benscheidt Jr., the son of the company’s owner, who was a patron of the photographer.
