Image series 47 / 2015: Hanne Darboven’s Art
New Structure for the World, for Time, for Space

Created by hand or with a typewriter Hanne Darboven’s images rows over rows of images always follow the same basic principles: serial progressions, with patterns based on logic and mathematical formulas and graphical or numerical representations of data. They show personal and historical events, encrypted according to an autobiographical number code, but not intended to be decrypted. The often hundreds of sheets comprehensive installations, she developed from the late 1960s. There are extensive thematic works on political events of her time, on the history and development of our culture.
The major retrospective of the concept artist Hanne Darboven examines the aesthetic and media diversity of her life’s work in two parallel presentations with different focuses.
