At the beginning of the 20th century, the draughtsman, painter and sculptor Amedeo Clemente Modigliani documented in his pictures a new, self-confident type of woman as he experienced her in Paris at the time. He depicted female artists, writers and other personalities who shaped the Parisian scene, mostly in stylised forms with elongated proportions and oval faces with almond-shaped, undefined eyes, isolated against a colourful background.
With around 50 paintings, sculptures and drawings, including mainly nudes and portraits, the exhibition aims to focus on the portraits of women in Amedeo Modigliani’s work.
